If you are looking for a 6.5 for a 1000yd gun I would go with the 6.5x284 norm!

If you're limiting yourself to 264 (6.5mm) then here is a good article comparing a 260 Rem vs 6.5x47 and a 6.5 Creedmoore.
http://demigodllc.com/articles/6.5-shoo ... creedmoor/
If your're considering other calibers their are several in 6mm (243) and 7mm (.284). Many have written that ballistically the 7mm bullet is hard to beat. Check out the ballistics of a 284 Winchester, definetly a 1000 yd rifle and beyond.

Yes, It is easily a 1,000 yard gun.
By the numbers I can't remember if it was the 129gr, or the 140gr Amax; But that bullet is supersonic to 1400 yards. By way of comparison, my 308 shooting 175 SMK's go trans-sonic somewhere around 1100. Now I am launching them faster than standard M118LR stuff.
Trans-sonic is where things get strange. Bullets don't act reliably in that range, IF they survive the transition, then the stabilize again usually.
