Slightly OT - 6MM-250

Just a question.... Does anyone have any experience with this cartridge? Simply nothing but a 22-250 necked up to 6MM.

I just acquired a vintage .473 bolt face Rem 700 short action that otherwise might wear out the bottom of a desk drawer that needs to be put to work.

I have long been a 22-250 fan, and one necked up to 6MM for 70-80 grain 6MM bullets seems like it would make a great light gun for rock chucks, coyotes, and hopefully a wolf if the process works out. Probably deer too...

I don't have too many holes in bore diameters that need filled in my gun safes, and I recognize this might mimic other close volume cases, but it kinda' has my interest with my fondness for the 22-250 case. At least its different, and the guy down the street probably won't have one...

I have thought about a light-weight 20-250 also, but this 6MM version has me thinking too...

Any thoughts...? Any experience....?

Hal -

I'm sure by now you've got some response from the other forums, but I remember TK did an article in SCN on this very caliber. He was quite enthused about it, and built a rifle for the article. If you can't find it, let me know, as I saved every issue of SCN.

Thanks, Rick:

I'll have to dig through my SCN collection and look for it...

I am getting a lot of responses; some of which are, "Why, when its slower than a 243 Win...?"

The best answer I have is I don't have one, and I think it might be fun and pretty efficient with light weight 6MM bullets for a walking around rifle...
