broken firing pin

Just started shooting new Ruger 77 MKll in .204 of course.Had 132 rounds of various factory fodder down the tube when the firing pin literally disappeared into the bolt.Tiny particles of powdered metal around the pin hole. Now what? Can I have a local gunsmith work on it or does it have to go back to Ruger? This just happened this evening.Very disappointing .Seemed to prefer 40's over 32's.Am anxious to start load development.

Well the quick fix would be to take it to your local gun smith , but the correct course would be to contact Ruger and have them fix it. Gary

marmota: Call Ruger Customer Service. You very well may be able to just send them the bolt w/o the rifle......maybe. Don't spend a dime fixing it yourself with a smith.....Ruger is responsible for the mishap, and they'll fix it without any fuss.

No matter the product; car, boat, computer, rifle.......something is gonna go wrong with some of them; always has, always will. It's called "life". ;)

I completely agree with Rick. Ruger has some of the best customer service in the business, so I'm sure you won't have a problem.

You guys were right on the money.I spoke with customer service and the bolt is on the way back to New Hampshire for repair. She also told me that Ruger parts are NOT available and they would repair any of their guns for life provided the weapon remains in modified condition.I guess that is a pretty darn good warranty.

Ed, I'm sure that you meant to say unmodified condition. I'm glad to hear that Ruger has you taken care of. :)

Ed,
Glad to hear it being taken care of. Nobody likes to deal with a problem with one of their babies!
