About how long does a golden rod dehumidifier last before it "burns out"?

I have one but not sure what brand it is. Same set up though. It has been going strong for 4 years now.

Does anyone know if power outages or surges affect it long term?

I've had mine in the safe for about 3 years, and it is still working. Several power outages and surges, but no problems.
