Twist rate ?

I was just looking around the Remington website.
The Model 700 VTR, in 243, has a twist rate of 1 in 14.
Why such a slow rate? Shouldn't the 243 have a twist rate of around 1 in 9?

yes you need the 1/9 if you are shooting up to ubout 105 gr bullets?
for 107-115 you are better with a 1/8 or 1/7 twist.the 1/14 would be for light bullets like 58 vmax
for an all around gun if you are loooking at remington the sps varmint
has 1/9½ i think it is and you could shoot the 58's all the way up to 105's , but the 1/14 you would have to stick with the light bullets.thats up to you on the bullets you tend to shoot or what youare going to hunt.

I'm willing to bet the price of lunch that that's a typo. Never heard of any Remington .243 with anything other than a 1-9" twist, unless you include the 40X rifles. Typo, I'd bet lunch money on it.

Hi, remington confirmed to me that their 2008 catalog had typos for twist rates.KB.
