Barrel Prices Just Took A Jump!

I had heard a rumor back in May of this year that barrel prices were going to go up soon. I hurried up and got my gunsmith to order a stainless steel 1 in 11" twist, three groove super match grade Pac-Nor barrel in .204 Ruger. He has a reamer that has cut one chamber and it has a no-turn .230" neck with 0" of freebore. I'll have a couple of dummy rounds made up with a couple of the bullets I use most frequently and we'll decide on how much freebore would be good. He said he could ream additional freebore if the 0" isn't to my liking. He ordered the barrel the first week of June and it arrived at h is shop on the 28th of June. Fast service. The price was $255.00 plus a whopping $19.41 shipping!!!! OUCH!!!
I won't have the barrel swapped out on my Savage 12VLP until maybe early this coming fall. Just early enough so I have some time to work on some coyote loads before it gets really cold. He said that Pac-Nor told him barrel prices were going up by 15% on July 1. He also found out that Kreiger barrel prices increased about 12%. He had ordered a .308 and a .338 barrel from Kreiger at something like $300 each. They shipped two .308 barrels and he decided to keep them both so he had to order another .338 barrel. The price on that one was quoted at $335.00!!!
I sure hope all of you who were thinking about a new barrel got it ordered in time to avoid the price increase.
