I just found a CZ 527 American in 221 Fireball. Seems like a perfect walkabout rifle, and a nice companion to my Cooper 221 Fireball. Best part is the price. $450. I have only seen pictures, but assuming it is in as good a shape as it appears, any reason not to pull the trigger on this?

Sounds like a deal. I sold my 527 FB for $100 more than that to help finance a Cooper .221. Have heard the .221 C-Zs get the best wood of the Americans. Personally, the pencil-barreled C-Z was a little too loud and light for my taste, but some like prefer it that way. Sure wish they'd offer it in a Varmint model, (but then I wouldn't have had an excuse to buy the Cooper.)

My Wife loves my 527American 221 so much that I just gave up & let her have it. She carries it all around the groundhog fields with no problem at all. I think you would like it very much.

Well, I did it. Rifle looks great. I mounted an old Simmons 4-12x scope that I had laying around. Wanted to see if there would be any bolt handle clearance issues, and I want to shoot it tomorrow.

You'll love it! I have one in a 22 Hornet and one in a 204 Ruger. Both are amazingly accurate for such light weight factory rifles
