Cooper Arms Jackson Varminter question.

Post by GlennGTR1 »

Has anyone at this site owned one. At 6.5 lbs advertised weight and a slight beavertail forend it seems like the perfect walking varming rifle. I know a few of you here own Coopers but all I have seen are the heavier varmint rifles.

Glenn: Nope, don't own a Jackson Varminter (yet), but am considering one as a walkabout rifle in 20 Vartage myself.

I'd recommend finding one on a retail shelf and fondle it before ordering, but be warned, if you do pick one up, it'll most likely go home with you. ;)

Good luck with the quest.

The problem is finding a dealer in Western Washington that carries Coopers. I will be traveling to Oregon next month, if anyone knows of a dealer between Portland and Bend let me know.

Glenn: There's a Cooper dealer right in W. WA.....Russ Haydon in Gig Harbor. He's not only a dedicated shooter, but a great guy to deal with. He's a stocking Cooper dealer and if he hasn't got it, he'll get it. I've done business with Russ for many years, shot rats with him, and can say he's "one of us".

Sportsmans Warehouse and Wholesale Sports (Bend) are also stocking Cooper dealers. The store in Bend found my MTV 204 in Helena, MT for me, so there's lots of options. Also Sundog Firearms in Kimberly, OR is a Cooper dealer.
