Project 22-250 AI
I am working on a project and am thinking about doing a 22-250 AI with 75gr A-max bullets for a little long range shooting/chucking. I have a 1:9 twist 26" Savage takeoff barrel from my .223 that shoots lights out to rechamber. I am in the process of getting a Savage action with accutrigger and .473 bolt face to use so it should mate up well. Any thoughts on this setup? Any other calibers you would reccomend?

Thanks for the info....more food for thought.
Re: Project 22-250 AI
a lad on one of the forums over here has a 1 in 9 twist 22/250 pushing the 75 grain amax with deadly results on varmint's
out to 700 yards. even took it out to 1060 yards on targets
this is 22/250 though not the ai chambering.
this still pushes the 75 amax to 3360fps over the chorno with superb accuracy. if you look on youtube you will see his video's

Re: Project 22-250 AI
A little off topic- I just picked up a 22-250 AI from a friend only shot 50-100 rds and I was looking for some info and loads. So while reading this post ( not trying to change posters question) I thought this might be a good place to ask some questions about the 22-250 AI. This gun is a Rem 700 24"barrel with a 1:14 twist. Thanks

Re: Project 22-250 AI
I have a REM 700 BDL IN 22-250. , If I was going to build one, I would use a quality Stainless bull barrel. My BDL Copper fouls two fast. I have floated the barrel and done some trigger work, However, It doesnt hold a candle in the accuracy dept, to my ar 204. I am considering rebarreling it . The light barrel is nice to carry but will never group like a good bull barrel. For most hunters it is probally fine but if you want a long range gun it needs to be very accurate at close range. Just my opinion.
