I am a little behind in this conversation but I am a huge proponent of the .223AI.

Mine started life as a Savage 12FV and now has a 22" 1:12 sporter weight barrel with a .223AI chamber set up for calling coyotes. acloco was a tremendous help and walked me through the process of conversion and load development. I have loades developed with 40gr bt using Benchmark, TAC and H335 that will produce 3850 easily. Using 52gr BTHP match bullets and H4895 I am getting 3650 and they are heck on coyotes. I hunted coyotes with a 22-250 for years and my go to load was a 55gr bullet at around 3650 so that is saying a lot for the .223AI. Hope this helps.

Well... I will update you guys a bit here!

I was going to scrap the .223AI idea with plans on building a 6mmBR here in the near future but the idea may have been revived this past week.

See, I HAD this Savage Model 40 that was causing me some MAJOR issues. Savage replaced it with a NEW rifle which had the SAME issue. Savage, being the BEST in the business with CS (at least in my book) and after much prodding from me, is going to replace the rifle with a 12FV in..... .223 ! :D :D :D

I could possibly see a rechambering (or rebarreling) for it in the future!

First off tho'...I may rebarrel my SPS in .22-250 to the AI version of that. Seems it has a bit of a tight spot in the barrel! :)

ETA: More info on the 6BR that will be build is as follows:

Savage Target Action (dual port)
26" Broughton 5C chambered in 6mmBR (.272 neck for Lapua brass)
Stockade Prarie Dog stock
Sightron SIII 8-32x56 (pending the amount of nickels left! :) ) in a DNZ Mount

only going sligthly off topic, but has amyone stuck a reamer in long enough to chamber a version of the 223 ackley with 204 brass. It has some appeal to me though I really really feel like a hotrod 22 on the 6.5x47 L case, but thats a whole other story!

Yes....I did. Most of the load workup is done. I necked 204 brass to 223 caliber and ran the 223 AI reamer in deep. Triple Duece AI.....have not named it yet....Super Duece???

Basically...body of the "Super Duece" is a 0.100" longer...and of course, now in the AI shape.

Shoots 80 gr AMax's at just under 3100, without pusing it too hard.
