Jim,
I always used IMR4831(remember when powder came in cans?). The short cut would be my preference now because I like the way it flows through a powder measure. A few 1/10's of a grain variation won't be as important with slow burning powder in a 6mm as it is in a small case with faster burning stuff.
I've got a couple hundred brass and a drawer full of 70 -100 grain bullets that I'll never use, but the stuff is stored at my daughter and son-in-law's house since I moved to Colorado. Have a little patience and I'll send you a list of good stuff at bargain prices.

Re: A 6mm follows me home...
To all,
Went out last week and conducted some velocity test with this thing (while there is still some good chronographing weather left and I was a tad surprised. The temp was around 75*, elevation is 440', 13' from muzzle to Chrony. I used the max loads I could find with the following powder, Rem 91/2 M, 75 VMAX and Remington brass. All were 5-shot groups, accuracy was not considered.
H4895, 40.0 gr, 3223 fps, SD; 27fps, Hi-LO; 73fps
IMR4064, 42.5gr, 3455 fps, SD; 12fps, Hi-Lo; 66fps
N135, 38.0**, 3297 fps, SD; 13.91, Hi-Lo; 33fps
Varget, 41.0, 3331 fps, SD; 44.5, Hi-Lo 104fps
RE-15, 40.4, 3748 fps, SD; 38.80, Hi-Lo; 112 fps
N540, 41.0 gr**, 3360, SD; 33.97, Hi-Lo; 86 fps
H4350, 49.0 gr, 3568 fps, SD; 16.72, Hi-Lo; 39 fps
H4831SC, 51.0, 3322 fps, SD; 15.10 fps, Hi-LO; 40 fps
** N135 & N540 loads were based on 243 WIN load data.
I was quite surprised at the velocities of RE-15 and will probably retest that load, otherwise I like H4350 and IMR4064.

Re: A 6mm follows me home...
Jim.......... Very nice report. Glad you got out to shoot her. I tried Varget when I 1st go my 6 Remmy and thought it to be to fast. I like the load volume of H-4350 and H-4831.
Good luck with her and hope she does well.
