Busman's Holiday

After guiding sagerat hunters for several weeks, I finally got out to shoot a few rockchucks on my own. I wasn't finding many 'chucks in our usual spots so I decided to look in an area Verminator2 and I had seen some sign while calling bobcat last winter. Turned out to have a huntable number so I took a few shooting my Cooper Varminter .204.
The first two were at 203 yards, the third at 187, I missed a couple of shots at 259 in the ten mph crosswind then connected on this 'chuck at 387 with a full value crosswind holding on the second windage mark on my Leupold VH reticle. It jumped off the rock it was laying on and I couldn't tell whether it was dead for sure so I put a second one in him at the same distance. When I got there, the evidence of the first hit was obvious. It wasn't my best showing having several misses mixed in but the wind was a little challenging. Need to get after some more. I'm getting the Fever!
387 Yarder.
There were 14 rockchucks in the FOV of my 10X42 binocs here. The digital zoom messed up the focus a little but you can see most of them. Unfortunately, I hadn't talked to the landowner about hunting this spot and let them pass.
I hope you all have a good summer of shooting! Take care and God bless.
