Well Tony, so far for me just a big-o badger that ventured out of his hole to eat a recently splattered ground squirrel, also courtesy of my 11-twist 204 Ruger Match.

It won't win the "Biggest" contest, but this old girl was quite healthy....up until she ventured out of her hole that is....

There's some of our forum members from up Alberta way that have shot some very nice large coyotes with their 204's, and I'm sure they'll chime in. Here's another look at Ms. Badger that day:

That was from my Rem M700 Pac-Nor 11-twist shooting 40gr Nosler BT's right at 3,890 fps using RL-10X at 226 yards. That was a good day.

Is it spring yet? :D

I neck shot a goat at 100 yards and it was dead before it hit the ground.
My mate chest shot another at 400 yards and it took a few steps and then fell over.

A 6 Foot tall Kangaroo - Eastern Grey Buck, about 150lbs in weight, that my working dogs had chased into a water hole (Dam). Head shot at 190 yards.
One shot and it dropped, 39gr SBK.

The .204Ruger was the only firearm I had in the 4WD at the time and no time to delay getting something bigger like a 30-30.....!!!

Normally Kangaroos are protected unless one has a Permit to Cull or kill for Commercial Meat Market but this one was trying to drown my valuable working dogs
so it was lose my dogs or the Roo had to be stopped. If you didn't know that Roo's will head to water for protection if they are chased by the likes of dogs and
once in the water they hold their prey down with their front legs and/or use the boyancy of the water to lift their hind legs and debowel their prey with the very
strong claw on each leg. Not a pretty sight. They can do the same to a human.

Took me hours to drag it out of the dam so it didn't contaminate the stock drinking water.

Likewise Mega. Got a few mates with destruction permits and one took me spotlighting a while back. Even the big Roos don't argue with a 39gn BK!
I've heard the same stories about roos and dogs in dams. Certainly wouldn't hesitate if I were in that situation either - Man's best friend.

A 40lb coyote with a 40gr Berger HP. Did 2 flips & done. We've also shot several groundhogs over the 14lb mark at distances between 140 & 245yds with the 39gr BK & they just flat fell over.

Cow at 75m with a 39 sbk smack in the middle of the forehead instant colapse barely a twitch! She had prolapsed beond repair after calving. Not my first choice but the only rifle I had on me! And I don't think the 204 is under powered for roos if head shot which all should!

Nice work Boomer
How heavy was the cow?
I've got a few small breed cows (Dexters) but never considered the 204 for knocking one off. But as I don't have anything bigger, this could be an option :chin:

Well said -re head shots. I bought my 204 because of it's inherent accuracy and flat shooting, so I could be confident at taking foxes and cats cleanly at 2-300 yds.

It keeps amazing me - what this little round is capable of.

This 25 lb female bobcat took a 32 V-max behind the left shoulder. It was a very challenging 20 yard shot :D

Image

I dispached a wounded coyote with the same bullet and gun 3 days later, the shot was about 5 feet. Not sure if that one counts  but he was a big 45 lb male.

Neil, that made me laugh because the super close shots are tough for me! I know what my centerfires are going to do at 100, 200, 300 yards. At 20, 30, 40 yards I really get nervous about gauging point of impact. Just can't make myself practice those. Nice looking kitty!!!
