Thiss was a good one.....got her with the 12 gauge in close but did not put her down....proceeded to empty my rifle with out a hit. By this time she was 500+ yards out, my bron in law lines her up and WHAPP! Very impressive shot indeed!

Some explanations: The 1st pic was a 200 yards shot running sfraight away, shot her in the back of the head and the bullets, along with her brain came out the eye socket. The second pic was the only standing still yote we have seen in years, 300 yards, 1 blitzking, game OVER! Pic #3 was shot at 450 yards on the run, right through the neck instant lights out! 4th pic, same animal. Pic #5 was taken just over 200 yards. Pic #6 about 375, also on the run. Pic #7 was a 500 yards plus by yours truly, did not post the pic of the off side.....Pic #7, this guy was hurt, the damage to the right front was there when I put him down. Loads used were as follows: Ruger 77VT using RP brass, CCI BR-4 primers, 28.4 grains of varget, 2.300" AOL for this gun, solid half inch load usually better. Remington 700 VSF usinf WW brass, Federal 205M primers, 25.2 grains of RL-10X, 2.325"AOL for this gun, sub half inch consistantly. The rugers gets 40 grain Vmax's exclusively and the remington gets 39 grain BK's exclusively. There ya go, the tail of the tape.

Nice shooting Fireball. I've been pretty busy with work the last little while so I don't get on here to often any more. I used to be able to log in at work but now they have it blocked cuz it picked up the word "weapons"
. I guess the company figures that it needs to censor anything "weapon" related so that I don't become a "bad" person
. Oh well, I'll try to drop in from time to time. In the meantime, keep "whackin n stackin" them dogs fireball.

That really sucks gube! My boss is aware of the fact that I am " Yote CrazY " and has no issue with me at work......as long as I keep bringing him beef jerky.....all is good! Ya, been a great season already, heading out tomorrow in pursuit of more!

nice whackin Fireball! Now that I've shot my buck for the year I will be hitn the yotes really hard. Today I put together a Meatsickle and it's in the freezer now. I use the meatsickles or baitpiles near my house so that I can shoot out my window. I also will do a lot of calling for yotes, but the baitpiles are nice for when I'm at home and cant spend the day squalling. We are supposed to get 3 inches of snow this weekend, so I expect the calling should be good.

Where we hunt yotes' is not that far out of the big city and with all th " Urban Hunters " shooting the place up, we are hard pressed to get one that is actually standing still. The selected loads this winter are really doing the job. The predator count is pushing 20 and we are barely into december......life is GOOD!!

Very nice!
I have never called in a yote, but word is they are near so it is just a matter of time. Is a good heart/lung shot gonna drop them or do I need to aim for the head?

Generally not a big fan of a head shot due to the fact it is usually rather UGLY to look at after the fact. I apparently missed a pic.....In this one, the dog in question was taken at 525 yards (ranged) and 1 39 grain sierra through the lower chest took care of business. At range in particular, we like a follow up shot just to make sure these magnificant animals stay DOWN! There are 2 head shot photoes in these picks, one was beyond 500 yards and the visible damage was minimal, the other one as you can see, was shot much closer (200 yards tops) and the damage was considerable and rather messy.

This was the one taken at 500+ yards, pic is a little dark, taken off my blackberry but I was surprised even at that range the amount of damage that little bullets does! Going on my second full winter of hunting almost exclusively with a 204 and I think it is official.....I am in LOVE!!!
