I shoot a remington model 700 VTR .204 ruger. using 40gr v-max hornady factory rounds. killed this coyote with one shot in the lungs. it didn't stop him in his tracks, but it really messed him up. he got bout 30 yards max (fall 30yards i should say). (30lb male coyote).
the coyote was patrolling the edge of that draw. after i shot him, he ran down the edge of the draw and tumbled over landing almost at the grass.
here he is. you might be able to see the entry wound, just follow that little bit of pink where his lungs would be. its in there.
here you can see the exit wound.
loaded up in the truck ready to go. after carrying this 30lbs dog, he felt more like 50lbs by the time i walked over a mile of canyon like terrain back to my rig.

How do you like the port on your barrel. I know the 204 is a loud round. I bought the Remington LVSF I have yet to really put it to work but it does shoot a nice group. I have thought of buying the VTR for a heavy rifle. Its a nice looking rig.

i shot this coyote about 50 miles from where i live in northern Idaho.
it was my understanding that the muzzle brake is to reduce recoil. seeing as how the .204 has minimal kick, i find it of no real use. i almost find it annoying, especially when it is raining or snowing. i try to avoid that stuff getting in my barrel.

Way to go.
