Grab something to drink...you will be looking at pictures for awhile.... :) Tom

NOTE - some pictures show ugly pictures of dead prairie dogs. You have been warned.

755 yard, 338 RUM, Savage LRPV action, Rock 32" barrel - 1st deer with it (I built it for my shooting buddy). Gotta love the haircut.
Wife cut my hair and forgot to adjust the height setting to "3". This is what 0 looks like.

At 300 yards, this is how far the top half of a prairie dog flies when it is hit with the 22/6mm AI.

My little brother on the right (he is a little taller than me, but uglier! LOL!)
He is holding my first Savage. 12FV single shot in 223 1:9 twist.
Picture taken in Montana along the Marias River.
Image

He did not believe a 223 would shoot all the way across a section.
Well, he is definitely on one side of the fence along with his spotter.
Image

Best group I have shot with this 223.
This rifle had about 5000 rounds through the barrel at this point.
Image

My son getting instructions on proper full auto stance prior to going to basic training for Army NG.
He hurt his knee that fall and the NG just declined letting him in this month.

Image

My buddy...using ground cover? Jason is also an original Montana boy.
Image

Our arsenal that day - his is the Remington.

Image

I also like military rifles. 300 yard target, open sites, 6.5x55 Swedish M96 Mauser.
Image

Barrel and action have matching numbers. Other than that, everything else is force matched.
So, there have been a few bolt on modifications. Timney trigger, target grip, etc.

Got cannon? George, cannon, & washing machine. "Got a little Capn' in ya?"

Acloco I got to agree with Gary. Those dogs don't stand a chance in the there mounds when you go after them with a cannon!! Be ready with the smaller cal when and IF they come out to do repairs!! HaHa. Thanks for sharing the pics and the stories. Boy do I miss an outting over a P.day patch.

Tom: Thanks for sharing. It's nice to look at pics of warm springtime or summer fun while cooped up during the winter doldrums with fresh snow on the ground and unable to get out (medical ya know.... :? ). Great fun indeed (and I did get something to drink; coffee with fresh groud Irish Creme beans with a dash of Carolann's Irish Creme and a shot of Kahula.....way good! ;) )

About that cannon.....consider using some grape-shot for "complete mound coverage".....

We built a cannon back in the late 80's in the shop that had the bore machined to perfectly fit golf balls. We lit it off with 1/2 lb. of FFG at railroad cars on the switch tracks in back of the shop. Range was about 80 yards, and when those balls hit the steel boxcars, it left a good dent with a very loud WANG! What fun; boys behaving badly with large bore firearms  Those golf balls must have been smoking along at about 1,200 fps. I was afraid to chrono it for fear of destroying my old Chrony. I'm surprised the local cops never paid us a visit!

For those that might want to build one...the BEST and EASIEST way to build a cannon...use a full size oxygen bottle, cut of the bottom and you can now launch bowling balls. We set one up to use 209 primers that are fired by a rocker arm from a Y Block ford (239, 252, 272, 292, & 312 cubic inch engines).

Golf balls would fun. Hmmmmm.
