Hunting a new farm

Post by Va varminter »

I went out the other day to hunt a new farm for some groundhogs. I took my 204 of course. Since I had never hunted here before, I really didn't know where to set up. The hard thing was trying to find enough area to look over. The way the land lays, it's like sitting at the top of a ball and trying to see the bottom. I did see 2 hogs while I was walking. But they saw me too, so I took 2 rushed shots. Missed. I think I may just use my 17hmr on this farm. It's a lighter gun and the ranges are short anyway.

Va,
Can you set up at the bottom of the hill/ball. I am from pa (live in nc now) if the terrain is anything like up there sometimes it's easier to shoot accross or even a little lower to cove more area, watch the horizon of coarse. might be able to see alot more ground that way. Too fun. I miss hog hunting alot. Good luck.
