doing some semi serious training for some thar hunting later in the year so i thought what better way to do it than take my 204 out for a trip.
managed to see a few hares and get one from around 175m using 32 gr bk, it didnt look like id had even hit it, once i got down to it tho i tried to get the back steaks out of it but the the inside of it was a mess. Bullet obviously did its job.

my toy.

the area that i went is on the left of the picture, the sun is directly behind me so theres no snow on one side of the hill. This is one of my favourite hunting spots because its less than an hours drive from home.
and i just walk from ridge to ridge and glass a bit.

and this is what its like on the side with no sun (this side of the hill wont get sun all winter.

And in nz its the middle of winter at the moment

madracer: Great looking country there, not too much different by the looks of it than the country here in central Oregon. I've got relatives in NZ, and the more I ponder it, the more I think it will be time for a trip in the near future......your photos have kicked the urge up a gear. ;)

Amazing what the 204 does to smallish critters, and in the snow, you get the entire "red streak" effect too.

Thanks for sharing the great photos. Nice looking toy you've got there :D

I'm going to guess Hoya or Remington XR-100.

It does look like my XR-100. Maybe I should go check my safe.

Pretty country..Sorry the 204 messed up your meal. You might try 45 gr hornady sp.. may not be so explosive. 8)
