I arrived in Burney just after 1300 picked up Jim and Chica his squirrel dog (Pictured) and left, we set up in our field and shot till about 1630, I shot only with the 204 pictured with most shots just north and south of 200yrds, Jim shot with his 17hmr, I stopped at 100 and Jim stopped at 101 for bragging rights. Tuesday the crop robbers starting showing about 0800 and we stopped again at 1630, the midday doldrums are always tuff but things picked up after 1430 and we had over 560 squeaks total that day, alternating between the 204 & 17. Wednesday we added the shooter whos home I was couch surfing on, it was much warmer but cloudy, I don't know if the new field was shot out or the lack of sun was the issue but we all got about 70, again alternating between rifles. Jim made a great shot with his 223 at 319yrds and I made many shots in the 200 to just shy of 300 yrd range which was the end of the field.

Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' about! Nice, and thanks for sharing!

Pic of rifle, lots of "modified" rats fresh from their flying lessons, faithful squirrel dog, what's NOT to like? Good job there, brooksb!

Well today was much better, sun and no WIND.. so off Varmint Shooter and I went to one of our pivots. We had plenty of shooting in 2 1/2 hrs. well over a 100 each of the critters, with a few misses. 20VT, 17FB & 17 Hmr's switched back and forth. ( Our set ups and a couple shots of field and one, of many squeeks )

Just out of curiosity, how many of you in Kalifornia and maybe elsewhere are playing with the non-lead in the HMR's. This squeeks was hit with a nonlead CCI Green. So far it seems, too me anyway, that they do not open the little buggers up like the V-max or even the NTX do. What are some of your experiences ? Bill K

I bought a box and shot some at the range, wasn't very careful about comparing but seemed to shoot pretty close, I also shot the remainder of the box maybe 30-35 on the last squeaker shoot, I thought at the time I was trying too hard for them to be inferior but thought the good ol' thump sound wasn't quite there.

Don't get me wrong guys/gals, I am not bad mouthing the CCI non-lead, just saying in my rifle they do not shoot as accurately, nor cause the damage some others do. But always interested in what others have found. Will be trying some other brands of lead free and see if they do better. Thanks for your info Brooksb. Bill K
