Also from another shoot; dirt mount at 426 yds. It's about 6' high, and was of great interest to Skippy and his pals, as they were running up and down the pile for hours, only stopping briefly to sit up and look for danger, so the shooting was really a hoot with the range and breeze to consider. They flew off the mound well that day (note rat in the green alfalfa at 4:30):

Rick Whoow what a launch platform!! Yep you guys are realy rubbing it in. Yep my .338 LimP might be to much a launch factor on the other side of say 700 yards. I was hoping my 6mm remington might work fine from 700 to 1K, as long as you could find those little targets.........haha. Heck I can get 7 rounds of the 204 Ruger w/39's, not quite 3 of the 6mm remington w/107's compared to 1 shot of my .338 LimP. Glade to see your posts and hope your feel better every day.

Thanks for posting that picture of the mound! What a great day that was and seeing that view again brought back the memories of those rats running up and down it trying to dodge our bullets. Man I can't wait to get at them again.

Future: Yes indeed, pellet count and pattern. Just think of a mini-shotgun of .450 caliber on your person, and you get the only factory shot load I trust for the .45ACP 1911 pattern pistols using 1/3oz of #9 shot that gives patterns at even 12' that no snake could sneak through.



Unplanned snake encounters usually take place around 6'-10' I'm guessing, and the pattern at that distance is quite impressive from this load. I've used handloaded Speer shot capsules in .357 and .44 bore revolvers since they came out in the late 70's, but this is the first factory load I've seen that actually gives total and complete reliability in the autoloader.

BTW, with the plastic shot capsule in this load, lead never touches the barrel. Looks like an ideal part of any outback adventure to me.
