Humm, 16 deer with the 204 Ruger? Let's see, the 204 was introduced in 2004, and that's about three deer seasons ago. How many deer are you allowed to shoot down there in south TX?

It appears further conversation on this subject is moot. Bye now.

If you haven't missed or lost a deer with the .204, and can say the same for the .243, why are you using the .204? In all honesty if you're going to choose an unethical caliber because you're too lazy to find a deer than ran 20 yards, you might be in need of a slap or two.

EDIT: You people post too fast, I always comment too late >.<

Our Hunting lease is a MLD permit in South Texas so the state tell use to shoot so many does as well as cull bucks we dont use our regular hunting tags

If it's a hunting lease, why would the state tell you to kill as many as you want?

My dad purchased the gun for Javalina but used it on a deer and now works great

And then Mr. Pillow removed himself from the topic.

I know I'll get slammed for this. But I bought a 50 BMG for deer hunting and I am disappointed. I have had much better luck stopping deer with my trusty 204 with neck and head shots while with my 50 BMG I shoot for the feet and I've either missed or had them limp away on 3 legs.

I don't know where to turn.

I would just like to add that this Forum is as much about hunting all game with Ruger's as it is about the 204Ruger. I also realize the 204 dominates this Forum for a very good reason. The deer hunting info goes in another Forum here. Like the Big Game or Centerfire Rifles Forums. Or the Shotgun Forum if that would be the case. I would not use the 204 for deer either. Coyotes are the biggest targets for me.

In the future we will move these threads to the proper Forums. They will get locked if need be.

I feel that if a thread of this nature is started & we respond then we're as much to blame for the outcome of it as well. If we ignore these then maybe it will be a bit quieter this time of year.

Lets all just enjoy what we have here. A very well rounded group of educated & dedicated varmint hunters/shooters/reloaders that enjoy the experience on this Forum as much as we do the ones in the field.

Enjoy your 204's!! I do!!
