Rock Chucks!

Post by Rick in Oregon »

No, didn't shoot any today (soon though), but they're out here right now every time the sun is out. I usually wait till I see the 'lil ones out before I start shooting any adults, but it's always great to see them coming out at this time of the year.

This guy was shot with a 200mm tele, maybe next time with a 204 or 20VT......

Getting the itch here as well. Rock Chuck Derby is just about 2 weeks away.

Also found a new place last year while I was running around in the mountains. Didn't know that they liked the higher elevations (~9500ft) as well. Needless to say, these ones are safe for another 2 months at least.

Just found out my rancher sold the prime rat patch to someone who wont allow shooting for legal reasons. Back to square one.

Sounds like you and I shoot one of the same ranches. I thought some of your photos looked very familiar.
