Re: Weekend trip continued (pictures)
Okay Mark, you've got us all riled up now. One day sniping rats last week was not enough to get the full smile going, so four days of it should do it soon. Looks like you guys encountered as many rats as we did......it doesn't get much better. My rancher told me the rats had a third hatch last year when the alfalfa was too long to see them, so they all grew to adulthood during the winter and came up full grown and hungry. Sweet!
Glad you had a good shoot despite the lousy weather we've been having lately. The season has begun!

our farmer said the same thing about the litters when the weather was good they were swarming the fields like a fly on stink. i would say out of 3 days there was had 1/34 days of good shooting. i cant wait until the next and good luck w/ weather when u go.

Mike: You'd fit right in to the "wild, wild west"! Plenty of wide open spaces, full of varmints that just NEED shooting! Lots of times we can see critters much farther than our rifles (or us) can shoot.
I moved here from the forests of BC 36 years ago and have never looked back! (Don't even ask me about my time in "Kommiefornia"!)

Rick: Working on a long-range plan. Unfortunately, the wild, wild west doesn't offer much to take advantage of my prime earning years. There are solutions, though. Simply a matter of finding the right balance.

What do you use to get those great pictures? Are they off a video camera?

Re: Weekend trip continued (pictures)
I use a Canon power shot 6.0 mega pixels its nothing great. For best results we have a rule when ever some one has a rat spotted around 25-100 yards max we call out camera shot, i hop off the bench run over get behind them and give 321 count down then they shoot and i snap just 1-2 sec after the shot. Its all in the timing. Rick has posted some better ones than mine, i need to get a camera like his mine is just a cheap one.

Nice "action shots". I'm just starting to see the little buggers out now. Still in the process of "reloading". Can't wait to head out.
