First fox!

Post by tarheel204 »

Got this nice sized male the other night behind the house...little bugger snuck up right behind me just when I was about to leave after calling for about 20 minutes. Stood up and dropped him hard from about 25 yards out with the savage .204. 40gr V-max did the job a little too good though...big exit hole discouraged me from taking his pelt, so i settled for the tail.

anyone know of any good fur friendly loads? i have a brand new box of 32gr noslers waiting to be loaded up so any suggested loads with these would be much appreciated!

That is a nice looking fox. Too bad about the hole. Maybe a Berger in 35 or 40gr.

For fur you can't beat the 35gr Berger......

Congrats on the nice male. :D

I use the 32gr Vmax by Hornady works fine most of the time. The price is right and it groups well. Most of the time you can't find the entry wound and no exit. Fox is a small animal. Most of my shots on fox have been at very close range.
