I should apologize for taking so long to post these but there it is! Been a rough stretch with other concerns taking priority. Now on to the show! A friend of mine has a ranch in the mountains between Lake Isabella and Bakersfield CA. I try to get up there as often as possible and he likes the rodent control. The ranch is a sq. mile so there's a pretty good selection of areas to shoot. I was using a stock Remington 700 SPS off of a Harris bipod, 32 gr VMax handloads, new Winchester cases with 27gr. H335. No idea what the fps are, just know the rifle likes 'em real well and the critters don't. Some of the shots were taken off my bench, some from a prone position and the rest were taken using the roof of the Mule as a bench.

Re: Late Summer Ranch Trip
Okay donputz, it's confirmed: You had the most fun last weekend!
By contrast, we've got 3" of snow on the ground right now, and it's coming down hard. I WISH I was out shooting squirrels!

Re: Late Summer Ranch Trip
I gotta agree with Rick, wish I had that weekend.
Up here it was crap, I went to the range early in the morning to beat the wind but had to deal with -6C (21F), its hard to shoot nice groups when you lose feeling in fingers. Then we woke up to snow this morning.
What breed are those ground squirrels? I am always curious about what the actual species is that we enjoy shooting in other regions.
