finally ! a couple of ghillie pics

Post by sniper model 12 »

I've been MIA for a while with layoffs from work and all. . . . but I finally got around to getting a couple of pics in my ghillie suit with my Savage mod 12 in 204. She has a small amount of ghillie shag on the barrel and scope. I haven't got to try this new rig on the coyotes yet. . . .

I know they're just waiting. . . . deer archery season starts Saturday in Ohio and soon the gut piles will be home to some limp dogs.

A good buddy of mine, Jim Pisarowicz, took these photos for me. Thanks Jim.

Thank you. Finding the right suit was long and time consuming.

Taking the pictures was kinda fun actually. Jim was tinkering with the settings on the camera and I told him I was gonna go over to the tree line and get set. When Jim looked up I was gone. He was about 60 yds or so away. As he slowly made his way toward me, he said he saw my exposed wrist. (I was repositioning the gun but when Jim got close and my jacket sleeve fell down.)

I have other pics where I was laying down, but the background is verticle nettles and my position is easy to pick out.

Yesterday I went bow hunting (2nd day of Ohio season) and I wore the ghillie into the cedar thicket at the inlaws. I had a mature doe walk in 15 yds quartered behind me. I was allowed to turn around, flip the safety off the bow gun, flip on the red dot, take aim and shoot! She was clueless! I moved REALLY slow :D . Unfortunetly, we tracked her over a mile through briars and fences, marshes and horse pastures, but....we never found her. Dad in law is gonna look for her today.

I used to laugh at those guys using bowguns and had to track their deer. Now I can laugh no more.

but the ghillie suit worked ! ! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Good looking suit. I've thought about those in the past.

What is a bow gun??

That's what I'm guessing too Rick. Altho I'm wondering if maybe it's a sort of primeival crossbow. That would be cool.

yeah fellas. a "bow gun" is a cross bow. most guys around here prefer the traditional longbow or a compound. Due to the obvious complications of using a compound bow with a suit made of shag.... :chin:  I use a cross bow with the ghillie and a compound with the leafy suit. Both the crossbow and compound have been used to take out coyotes.

I figure, if the new ghillie can fool a deer, there is a chance it'll fool a coyote.

I have found that a lot of cities will not allow you to discharge an "evil gun" within city limits. But most will allow a cross bow or compound as long as you provide evidence that you are competent and accurate. & you must be hunting coyote. The down side is some smaller cities have ordinance against all "weapons" and will not allow anything including a slingshot!! :lmao:
