Swapping my Savage barrel for a .204

Post by ACLakey »

How many of you here are using the .204 Ruger as a calling caliber?

I am a little tired of the weight of my 26" heavy barrel that came with my Savage 12FV and am looking to re barrel. The rifle is barreled for a .223 now shoots very well, so I have been hesitant to do anything with it. I contacted Savage today and priced a new 22" Heavy Sporter barrel for $170...not bad. The heavy sporter is the contour found on the Predator Hunter and the Predator Hunter I handled in the store the other day felt pretty good. It is a little barrel heavy, but not nearly as unruly as the 26" bohemith that sits on my rifle now. I figured since I have a .223 barrel for the rifle maybe I should look at the .204. Any thoughts?
