Montana question

Post by Bergcrane2 »

Do I need to buy a licence to shoot coyotes or PD's in Montana? I'm heading out there this fall and just want to get all my ducks in a row.

If you don't have a hunting or fishing license I think you need a permit to be on state lands for recreation. There are no licenses for prairie dogs or coyotes. If your trip is during big game season be prepared to be turned down for varmint shooting by most private land owners.
Check Montana Fish and Game website-should have all info you need.

The info provided is accurate. BUT, consult the FWP Montana website to cover all the bases.

We're actually big gaming in Wyoming, but the rancher has friends that have ranches in Montana who want yotes gone. If those don't pan out, maybe some BLM land. I went to MT F&G website and couldn't find any regulations on coyotes. All they show is game animals.
