Montana Bunnies

I just found this site last weekend. Can't stop reading.
"Rick from Oregon" is my hero.
I bought a 204 ruger last year with the purpose of wreaking havoc on the prairie dogs in Montana. I deer hunt there each fall, and we try to rid the local ranchers of a few whistle pigs during our down time.
I have recently made it my coyote gun, but have yet to call one in this year to try it out on. I am going out tomorrow to hopefully give the hornady 40 grain v-max a good test.
Here is a pic of the damage the 204 does on montana bunny rabbits. (the prairie dogs were being shy)
I shot one of the bunnies at 416 yards. Held on the top of the ears. OK, I missed 3 times before I finally hit him right in the head.

You've got some snow out there in Sisters too, I see. We need a bit more here to make the desert a bit more coyote hunting friendly. When we see a bunch of bunny tracks crossing the snowy road, its time to bail out with the coyote rifles and FoxPro's!

Belfry is located about 60 miles south of Billings near Red Lodge, also lived in West Yellowstone for the first 15 years of my life

No luck today. Sisters has plenty of tracking snow...but nothing wanted to make new tracks except for me. My foxpro is coming Friday. I bought the new zr2. Not remote (couldn't afford it), but looks like a good unit. I will let anyone know what I think of it if interested.
Bunnies came from Forsyth Montana. We stay with friends. We mostly hunt around sarpy creek, hysham, and colstrip.
This year was the first year I tagged a whitetail instead of a mulie. Didn't have any trouble hitting him with the first shot however. 29 yards is hard to miss w/ a 270 win.

I know a great bunch of people in Forsyth, they run PR country comforts. My buddy (and personal guide, center in the below pic) is from Forsyth and is currently living in colstrip and is the marketing manager for Montana Decoy.

Beautiful country out there, I shot a great tom out there a few years back.

Took a little scooter ride this past summer from arkansas to red lodge...even tho the hunting is fantastic where you live....the ride over that bear tooth was hard to beat...great picture..as for the range finder shots..at 419 my ruger refuses to make contact without at least 5 warning shots and much laughter from my grandson,,
