What is the best way to find your cartridge overall length ?
If I seat my bullets to the lands they wont fit the magazine so do I start at magazine length and work back or is there a better way ?
I will be using sierra 39bk and hornady 40vmax.

If you are going to feed them via the mag, then you must start at max fit. Then work back, to find the best grouping seating depth. Anyway, that is what I would do, if I wanted to use the mag/clip. Bill K

Thanks Bill.
Yes I will be feeding them through the mag.
Is there a certain length that seems to work for most rifles or are they all different ?
The recommended length from hornady and sierra leave the bullets seated very deep.

As you read other threads along this line of seating depth, you will notice that most are close to each other, but each rifle is a little different and therefore the COL will vary. You just have too make up several loads, with a different seating depth, and try them in your rifle for grouping. When you find one that works, for that bullet and powder, then stick with it ( of course). The fun begins when it will vary with bullet and powder type. Then you may have a couple of various seating depth's and that can make you keep them separate in their own little box, so you know which is which... Ahh the fun of reloading and playing. Bill K
