What is the average number of rounds you can load up out of 1lb of powder? I know its gonna depend on how many grains your loading up but, whats the average number you guys are coming up with(if you keep track). It may be a dumb question but I'm trying to price out how much I can load up 1,000 rounds for. A friend of mine and I are planning on doing some p-dog hunting and we are going to split the cost of ammo.

There are 7,000 grains to 1 lb of powder. Just run the numbers.

Try this
http://www.push.com.au/misc/2012%20Amun ... ulator.xls
It's a link I copied from another forum. Excel spreadsheet with all the sums plugged in. Just change the grey boxes to fit your powder/bullet/cases etc.
If the link doesn't work, send me your email and I'll try to send it that way

Like Hedge said: 7,000 divided by # of grains in each case = total # per pound. Subtract however many grains you are going to spill on the floor before doing the math!

I see you've forgotten to close the gate on a ChargeMaster too

For 1000 rounds of 204 ammo you will need around 4lbs of powder.

Guys, I don't have a Charge Master. However, I'm quite confident that I can put powder on the floor regardless of the equipment being used! It takes years of practice but, I'm good enough that I can spill without even trying to.

Not by a long shot Bill. Sometimes I'm so careful to close the wheel I spin it twice which of course dumps powder all over the floor.
Ramos. I applaud your dedication to perfection but get a ChargeMaster. You too can be a pro at spilling without so much as a thought,,,,which is exactly how it happens

Been there, done that on the chargemaster with the drain gate open.
A worthwhile related tool for calculating reloading cost:
