Malazan--I have a Savage target action with a stainless steel 1 in 12 twist three groove 26" SS Lilja barrel on it in .204 Ruger. The following load works great in my rifle, but I recommend that you start with less powder and work your way up!!! I use 27.2 gr. of IMR 8208 XBR, Remington 7½ primers, Nosler .204 Ruger casings with necks walls turned to between .0110" and .0111" to fit my .230" chamber neck. These 39 gr. SBKs were seated .004" off the lands. Average velocity at 12 feet from the muzzle was, 3,879 fps and the muzzle velocity is averaging 3,894 fps and accuracy is GREAT!

I also have a Savage 12VLP in .204 Ruger that has a 25" stainless steel 1 in 11 twist three groove super match grade Pac-Nor barrel. The new barrel was chambered and installed by Kevin Weaver and it was chambered with a SAAMI .204 reamer that was reground with .035" freebore and has a standard neck diameter of .232". I had the 39 gr. SBKs seated somewhere between .010" and .012" off the lands. The following load works great in my rifle, but I recommend that you start with less powder and work your way up!!! I used 27.4 gr. of IMR 8208 XBR, Remington 7½ primers and fully prepped WW brass, but did not turn the necks. The average velocity at 12' from the muzzle was 3,833 fps and the average muzzle velocity was 3,848 fps. Here's a 100 yard group shot with that combination.

I'm using 8208 in one of my .17 Remington rifles too. Great powder so far.

My best load for 39 gr SBKs and 8208XBR is 26.2 gr using Remington 7 1/2 primers, Win brass and a COAL of 2.306". The best 5 shot group I got was .264". I believe the max load recommended is 27.3 gr. I got slightly better groups with 40 gr Vmax.
