Tony,

Are you sure it's H4198 and not IMR 4198. H4198 is a hot, high pressure powder. The only bullet Hodgdon lists for that powder in .204 is a 26 gr Barnes. Even at min load they show pressures at the 54,000 psi range.

yes h4198 i already made some loads then sold the powder the loads where only 20grs with 39sbk no pressure signs
so i take it would recommend re10x instead

Can't really make a recommendation on re10x from personal experience, only what I've gleaned from the forums. Seems to be a popular and accurate powder but very temp sensitive.

If you want a recommendation on powder choice, I'd go with IMR 8208 XBR. Charges easily (small sticks), doesn't seem to know a hot day from a cold one and shoots accurately in my Savage with 26gr, 32 gr and 40 gr bullets.

thanks for reply my dealer only got those two in id have to order that one special which would take a while so ive gone with re-10x
the h4198 is not temp sensitive either, is very rear here that we get that bad a temp shift plus most of my shooting in this cal takes plaace at night with a lamp so cool if not cold :)
