Been working on a load not having any luck.Howa 1500 with 1-12, benchmark powder, 32gr v-max and once fired hordny brass.Thought about going to 39gr berger do i ned to chang powder and brass too or just one at a time? dose the brass relly have that much to do with accuracy. any one have any options please.
Re: New to site
Hornady is pretty inconsistent brass, but you didn't give much indication of what kind of groups you are actually getting. Benchmark usually shoots very good with 32 vmax. What is the powder charge you are throwing? What is your seating depth or coal? Have you fired any factory loads and what did they shoot like?

It is better to only change one item at a time when working up a load.
Please, no Sidewinder today!

Factory loads in 32 gr shoot good about 3/4 in 100 yards. hand loads with 26 gr benchmary and 2.300 coal is in a 1in grop.not to bad relly but i thought it would be better. have tried shorter coal but grops opend up. this is as long as i can go.
Re: New to site
Too bad you can seat them any longer. My best coal with the 32 is 2.345. I usually shoot a max load of Benchmark with 32's which is 28g, but have had good results anywhere between 27g and 28g with lots of .3 and .4 moa's. Maybe you should try increasing your charge by .2g at the time and see if your groups tighten up. I suspect they will and you'll find a sweet spot between your 26 and the max 28. Hope it works out for you.
