Hi everybody. New to this bb and to 204 shooting, but not varmint shooting. I'll be bringin home my CZ Varmint this Friday providing the river don't rise as we been gittin are share a rain lately.
I've been reloading for a Tikka 223 595 Master Continental since 02...got a mess of 2230-c from Natchez back when it was $60 for #8. Just bought #1 of W748 to see how it works on 55gr Dogtowns, and it does just fine thanks. This gun shoots 40gr V-Maxs 1" @ 200yds all day long. So why buy any other powder?
In anticipation of getting the CZ(I really wanted a Tikka T3 Varmint but couldn't find one on the planet) I bought 32gr V-Max's, 34gr Varmint Extremes, and 39gr Sierra BKs.
I was able to find info on the 32gr Vmaxs with these powders but not with the 34gr. Mr Asher has posted that he uses 2230-c often, never mentions the loads. Would you,Mr Asher, and anybody else, please provide the loads for both 2230-c and w748 for the 34gr Varmint Extremes as well as the Sierra 39gr BK's? I'll be using both Winchester and Hornady brass, CCi #400 primers, and Lee collet neck size dies. Of course you can expect pictures.
FWI- I shoots squirrels with: an RWS 54 22cal air rifle, Air Arms PCP 22cal air rifle, Ruger 10/22T, Anschutz 22cal 1416, Anschutz 1502 Mach2, CZ 452 17 hmr Varmint, Anschutz 1720 22mag, NEF 223 HB, Tikka 595 Master Continental in 223, and soon the CZ 527 Varmint in 204.

If not Mr. Asher(perhaps he's busy), then anybody else who uses those two powders for those two bullets would you be so kind as to share your load data please. I hope I didn't offend or come off as arrogant...if I did please forgive me as I wrote that post at 1am after a long day of work. I really want to shoot my new toy this Saturday, so please if anybody out there has some info. to share I would be ever so grateful. Thanks in advance.

g'day mate, my 204 load is 29 grains of ww748 with the 39gn sierra blitzking with 2.300 cartridge overall length. That is the maximum length of the magazine which leaves me a long way off the lands in my ruger but it still shoots very well. max load in my rifle is 29.5gn ww748, recommend you start lower. Sorry I can't help with the other projectile, all the best.

For the 34g Varmint Extreme, with W748 I shoot 28.8g with oal at 2.245. It gives me 3,850 fps and shoots in the .3's. That is with Win brass, and Wolf 223 small rifle primer. The wolf primer in this loading shoots with more fps than a Rem. 7.5 BR primer. In fact it takes about 29.3g of W748 to equal the same velocity using the Rem primer. I don't shoot CCI 400's so I don't know anything to help you using that combination.

In my rifle I have to reduce loads by about .4g when going from Win Brass to Hornady Brass, so you might want to start lower at 28.4g and work up.

Sorry for the late reply, I've had some computer issues lately.

I'm currently running 27.3 AA-2230-C with the 34 Dogtowns/Midsouth/Nosler bullets. It's not a one-holer, but it kills PDs and stuff with satisfaction, from my Savage. I normally run Fed. 205Ms in Winchester cases. I've never chrono-ed the stuff, but it shoots to the same POA as my Benchmark loads/32 VMs, so I'm happy with that.

I have never used 748 in the .204 with lighter bullets. I tried it with 40s when I first got my rifle, but the results weren't good in my rifle (most likely the bullets and not the powder, though). By the time I got around to trying the 39s, I was onto the 4895s, and never used them with 748, either.

Thanks for the info. Sorry for my late reply as I was having issues logging on. I recently got some RL15 powder and #71/2 primers and will load with it tonight and shoot tomorrow. Let ya'll know how it goes. So now I have three powders, three bullets, two kinds of brass, and two kinds of primers to choose from. With all that somethings bound to be a magic brew.
