I got my RCBS ChargeMaster dispenser on Thursday. I am already out of ammo to load. These things aren't a necessity, but they sure make reloading fun again. I weigh every charge (competition and varmints) when loading for rifle so this is going to make life easy. Also, it makes loading powder for working up loads a snap.

Natchez has the RCBS CM 1500 on sale for $279 right now, and with a $50 rebate that knocks it down to $229. I was very happy with that! (added an RCBS bullet puller to hit the $300 requirement for the 50 dollar rebate)


I haven't heard much about the Hornady dispenser. It seems like the RCBS, Lyman and Pact always get compared head to head. Please give your impressions on the Hornady as time goes on.

You'll probably end up shifting it over to the right edge of your bench. Makes emptying the powder back into the containers much easier if you don't have to pick the whole unit up to dump it. That is what I found anyway.

Doesn't it have a "discharge chute" for emptying the reservoir? I know my Chargemaster 1500 does...you don't need to pick it up to "dump" the powder back into the container......

It looks like there's a small tube off the right side of the unit......

Yes, but the discharge chute is 1/2" from the table. Kind of hard to get a bottle under there.

If you set it up on your table so that the chute overhangs the table then you never have to pick it up.

Unless you know a trick that I don't.

A quick, easy solution to this problem is to make a small riser for the dispenser, similar to a computer monitor desk riser. It can be made from wood or plastic easily, just high enough to get a powder bottle under it, and by doing so, it raises the unit high enough to be at eye level or almost so, giving the operator a better overall view of the dispensing process.

I don't use an electronic dispenser, but my Redding BR-30 measure is mounted on a shelf so it's at eye level when operating, and has proven over time to be very effective.

I've only had mine two days and already made the mistake of forgetting that! Haha

I want to know how fast it is.Can you seat a bullet while the next charge is dispensing,and not have to wait?Does it auto dispense when you retun the pan?That saves time.If it does auto dispence,a neat timesaver is a Lyman pan/funnel.Saves picking up a seperate funnel.Keep us posted.

Yeah, it auto charges as soon as you put the pan back. Or you can manually charge it. It has a slow, normal, and fast setting

There are a few places that sell powder funnels that are caliber specific. This means that they have a somewhat tight fit that is hands free. Saturn is one brand that is sold through Sinclairs and Brownells. Seems like they sell for about $11 if I remember correctly. They are very nice. I got my first one when I got my 204 because the other funnels were too big. Now I have several of them because they work so well.
