hello there, first post, so a big Hi
i use 120 in my .223 with great results - as the .204 is in the same'ish family (brass wise) i wonder why there arent any loads using Vit 120. I have trailed the internet and various powder manufacturers & loading sites and cant really find a link or references. Its such a clean powder i would like to try it in my .204..
Has anyone any experience with this powder - your help is appreciated
ATVB Gary

Re: Does anyone reload with VIT 120
Gary: I've used N133 in my various 223's with excellent results (best groups shot w/all rifles were with this powder), but have not tried it in any of my 204's because of the high cost. We can get the "usual" powders here for $16 - $23 per pound, but the Vit stuff goes for US$35+/lb, so with high volume shooting as with prairie dogs or ground squirrels, it gets quite expensive quite quickly. I love to shoot our rats, but not that much.
If you cruise over to saubier.com, I'm sure you'll find some guys using N120 in the 204R case.....you're right in that it should work just dandy when referring to case volume of the 204R.

Re: Does anyone reload with VIT 120
well .....it would seem that Vit 120 is too quick burning for the small bore of the .204 according to quickload so its BLC-2 starting with 28.0 grains going up in 0.5's to 30.0 grains to see how they work with 40 grain v-max pills.....
wish me luck and i hope my rifle LIKES the 40 grainers

IMR 3031 is definitely what my Savage likes best in the 40 grain bullets, both Hornady and Berger. I have some set up with Varget to try, just haven't got to go shoot em yet.

Re: Does anyone reload with VIT 120
First.....welcome to the forum.
I have not used Viht N-120 in a .204, but it was my go to powder for a 20 Vartarg. However, it is my understanding it is no longer being imported to the U.S., and I'll be using RL7 in that rifle when my N-120 is gone.
I see you are across the pond, so availiabity may be alright for you, but as the others have mentioned, N-120 will be too quick burning for the .204.
Mike
