Thoughts on Berger 35 grain Match Varmint
Having done a little more work with this bullet, I have to say that it is by far the MOStTconsistant bullets I have tried in my VSF. Only tried it with benchmark and RL-10X to date the latter with the bullets seated as far out of the remington will allow. Up until the time the bullets were seated out, they performed well but not stellar. I have read many times that this bullet imparts minimal damage on hides, have no experience hunting with these bullets. In a calling situation I can see these bullets being useful, what sort of ranges are you guys using them to? Due to the lowish BC, I view this bullet as a short range proposition only. Most of the 32's have a higher BC than this bullet does and are cheaper to boot. Just looking for some thoughts on this bullet and it's applications. Thank you in advance.

All I've shot with this bullet so far was a feral cat, and it took flopping it over on the ground a couple times and lifting it for it to even bleed. I couldn't find the entry hole with flashlight. Was surprised it didn't shred a critter that small at 80 yards. Wish I had more experience with this bullet. I am trying, but the coyotes are extra smart this year.

Interesting. I have heard from others that they do little damage but are rather violent when they get inside the critter. Keep us up to speed.

So far I've had exceptional luck with the 35gr. Berger. Small entrance and no exit. Finally did an autopsy on one of the Coyotes. It had a total penetration of 3 to 4". It shredded the lungs and heart. This one was shot at about 80yds and just behind the shoulder. In the area I live a 100yd. shot would be considered very long, so the 35's work real well for me. The BC's might not be there on the 35gr. Berger, but the bang flop is.

Maybe I will have to re- consider the use of these bullets. Where I hunt, shots tend to come at 300 yards or better so a bullet that delivers the goods at long range is the order of the day.
