Thanks Silverfox...
I'm still somewhat new to reloading so try not to make loads up as I go too much, but I do understand that published loads are guidelines and not to be taken for the gospel. I have also searched here, at Saubier, and all over on line for some TAC/39 gr BK recipes but have found none.
I called Ramshot a while back about loads for 55 GR Nosler Ballistic Tips for my .223. They didn't list these bullets with TAC and the engineer at Ramshot told me without hesitation to go ahead and use the same powder charge as for the 55 gr Sierra BK's.
So, I know the charges are
somewhat interchangeable if the bullet weight is
close. I'd just call Ramshot if they were open tomorrow but they're not and I'd like to load up some rounds for Sunday's trip to the range
So, their 40 GR V-Max loads are:
Min: 24 gr TAC
Max: 27 gr TAC
(for additional reference, the 32 gr Sierras are 26 min and 38.5 max)
Looks like I might be safe if I just start at 24 gr and work up slowly from there? I kind of figured that short of calling Ramshot I'd be swagging a starting load around 24 gr but just wanted to see if anyone had some specific experience (or had talked to Ramshot and asked the same question.)
thanks for the reply!
