Looking to start searching for a load for these bullets. I have Varget and Benchmark powders to use with Hornady brass and CCI primers. Searched around a bit though other people's 'pet loads' and figure these as start/max loads for each. Looking for some feedback (or preferably someone out there with a Sierra book!)
Varget Start 26.5g Max 28.0g
Benchmark Start 24.0g Max 25.5g
COAL 2.285 (plan to tinker with this)

If you look at the headers on any forum page (204 Load Data), you'll soon be looking at the Sierra data for their 39gr SBK.....you just have to look a bit yourself......

My best loads with that bullet all came with RL10X in two of my three 204's.

That seems to be the common denominator in a lot of cases....
I've found that my most accurate loads for the 39gr SBKs will fall between .4 and .7gr below max loads (published) using spherical (ball) type powders. Don't have much info on the extruded ones...

This is the bullet of choice in my VSF! Benchmark averages under 1/2" for 5 shots and RL-10X averages under 3/8" with 25.5 and 25.1 grains respectively. The gun hates hornady's and has little use for the 40 grain ballistic tip. Have tried the 35 grain bergers with benchmark and they are not too bad. The berger loads were somewhat handicapped by a short COL, I am going to retry them seated out to where the BK's like it and see what happens.
