Primer Options

Hi everybody, Just got a new .204 and love it! I started to get some reloading components for it but all I could find for primers are WSR. All load recipes I have seen call for magnum primers like Rem 7 1/2 and Fed 205M and I can't find any of these. How will this affect my rounds if i don't use a magnum primer? I am using Hornady brass, Hornady 32grn V-Max, Hodgdon 322. Thanks.

They should work just fine, you'll just have to tailor the load for it. I prefer Remington 7 1/2 my self since my 223 target rifles prefers them. Also, in this day in time, grab any primer you can.
Good luck

i use wsr primers exclusively in both my 204 and my 223. for the 204, i use them in 3 different loads and i get really good results with them.

The Remington 7-1/2 is NOT a magnum primer. The 6-1/2 is for small mild cases like the Hornet, the 7-1/2 is for cartridges such as the 223 and the 204.
The WSR is perfectly suited to the 204 case also.

FWIW,
Over on the highpower forums the Wolf magnum primers get good reviews, the non-magnums, not so great.

Thanks for the info everyone, this helps alot. I'll work up some loads with the WSR and see what they can do.
