I picked up 1000 wsr primers friday after work, My supply of cci br4 and cci 400 is getting small. These were the first small rifle primers I have seen on the shelfs for months so i bought them. I never used these before and have only used cci 400s and br4s ever since i started reloading, Will these primers work good in my 204 with 25.1 grns of 10x. I have shot up to 25.5 grains with the cci primers with no problems. I am just a little concerned about the cups on the wsr's being thiner. thanks

Should be good to go. You omitted which bullet weight your using but the story never changes. Start a little lower and work back up. 25.1 might be the magic number with your last batch of primers but the Win's might like something else. You won't know unless you try. Primers are a big part of the tune. And of course starting lower will allow you to look for signs of pressure.

According to James Calhoons primer studies the CCI 400's have a cup thickness of .020. CCI 450's are .025. The Wins are .021. All these stats are subject to change and not written in stone.

since i started reloading rifle and pistol, the only primers i have used are winchester. i am using wsr, wlr, wsp, and i am using winchester shotgun primers. i have never had a problem with any of them. in my 223, i use wsr primer w/H335 at 26.3 gr, 40gr. vmax. i did pierce a couple primers close to max load, but it was real warm that day. i have also used 50 and 55gr bullets with same powder and primers, with no problems
in my 204R, I load wsr primer, 32 gr vmax, benchmark at 27.2 gr and all R-P brass. I am also loading 204R w/wsr primer, RE10xat 24.7 gr. and 39 gr. SBK's and R-P brass. all with no problems. I have also worked on loads for the 204R, all the way up to max charges, including 25.1 grs re10x and 39 gr SBK's using wsr primers. absolutely no problems with winchester primers. so i have never tried any other primers, because i am getting good results with what i am loading. so i have to agree with JO191145
Be safe and careful and enjoy, and look for trouble when working with any component change! :wtg:
