Fed 205 primers

My dealer just got some of these primers in. I've used 205M's with good results but its been my understanding that the 205's are a little too thin to stand up to the pressures generated by the 204. However I see in the favorite loads thread that some people do use them. Has anyone had any negative experiences with these? BTW most of my loads approach max listed. Should I pick some of these up? Thanks. Dave

Yes indeed; grab them while you can. I use that primer in six varmint rifles, all high intensity calibers. That primer is also one of the favorites of the BR crowd (205M), who all run their rigs in the fast lane. Primers are scarce right now, the fact that you've stumbled onto a stash of one of the more desirable units is just icing on the cake. Go now!

Rick-The primers my dealer received are 205's not the 205M's. Isn't there a difference in cup thickness. If you think the 205's will be alright I'll buy some. Dave

A poster who works at Federal told us the 205 and 205M are made with the same cups.
Thats not my expierience. My 205M's have a thicker cup and handle pressure better.

Does'nt matter much. Stay within book data and they'll be fine in the 204.
Politically speaking I'm not forseeing an end to this component shortage. More likely it will get worse if the powers that be have their way. Buy em up NOW!!! They might be gone tomorrow.

First it was primers. Now try buying your favorite gunpowder. Its going going gone.

greystone, FWIW I use the F205's and shoot max with no problems.
