I need a good ball powder for the .204. I recently bought a nicer powder thrower and it throws ball powder very accuratly like dont even have to weight accurate. my son bought a new .204 and i need an new load for it and was wondering if anybody tried a ball powder that worked for them.
Isnt h335 and benchmark ball powders?

I`ve had good luck with BL(C)-2,which throws really accurate.
The only thing to watch is that it is temperature sensitive,so bear that in mind.
In my rifle it will shoot 32 V-max into sub .5 groups all day long.

H335 is an excellent ball powder for the 204. Benchmark is an extruded powder, but the kernals are very small so it does meter quite well. Both of those powders will perform well but you will not get top velocity with either one on the heavier bullets(39 & 40).

I have had great performance(velocity & groups) with Xterminator and it seems to be lower priced when I can find it. This is a ball powder.

One of the managers at an ammunition reloading company told me some years ago that H335, W748, AA2460 were all the same powder manufactured in Israel and packaged under the different names by the different companies. AA2230 is the same with a flash suppression added. I don't know this for fact, but the company he works for loads millions of rounds per year for military, police, and sportsmen.

Winchester 748 is a ball powder. Works well with the Hornady 45-gr bullets. Haven't tried it with anything lighter yet.

The Hornady manual shows it works with their 32 and 40-gr bullets. But, I haven't loaded any yet.

Win 748 works well with 35 Bergers. Haven't tried it with anything else as far as I can remember.
It seems to appreciate heavy neck tension at book max loads or a smidge above.

If your running WS2 it seems to like light neck tension at way above book data.
There are no absolutes though.

Try some Ramshot TAC. I have had very good results with it and 32 gr. SBK's.

RL10X is extruded, but the kernals are small so it does meter well through a powder measure. My Redding throws a more consistant charge with it than H4895.

I've used Winchester 748 and Ramshot X-Terminator with 39gr SBKs and gotten excellent results at almost a full grain under max loads....saves on powder and brass wear as well as excellent groups..

The X-Terminator powder meters like water and requires less than the W-748 for a good load..

benchmark is a small extruded but it has given me great results in the 204!! It meters well in my lee thrower. so if you have a better meaasure all the better. I like benchmark so good that it is my go to powder. If it doesn't work then I try others but benchmark comes 1st!!!

good luck
