Midway Dogtown update

I'm making some progress with these Dogtowns. I went out this morning at sunrise and did some shooting. Right now the only suitable primers I have available locally are Rem 7 1/2's and CCI BR-4's The groups were defiantly smaller with the CCI's. I'm still using Remington neck sized cases but this time the flash holes and primer pockets were uniformed-something that I haven't done before. This is going to be standard operating procedure from now one. Any how the cases were loaded with 25 grains of H322 to an overall length of 2.303". These are the last CCI groups-only shot these 2 with dogtowns and then went to my Bergers. There was a slight scope adjustment in between. Both of these are 5 shot groups at 100 yds. Dave

I had been thinking of loading these bullets also because of the economy. I stopped by the Nosler shop when I was in Bend on my vacation and they where out and didn't know when they would have another production run. At one time they where selling them for $89.90 a thousand very tempting. I was told you needed to load them under 3800 fps to keep them stable. Which is OK by me since I am using Ram Shot powder (Xterminator) Its top load is about that velocity. Good luck on your project it looks like you are getting tuned in.

Ryan-You can get the same thing as a Dogtown from Midsouth for about 35 bucks for a 500 round pack. They're called Varmint Nightmare X-TREME. I have a 500 round box of these and the appear to be the same thing as the Dogtowns. I haven't shot any of these but did check a few and they were .204". My very first 100 round box of Dogtowns contained some bullets that measured .203". They were loading into my cases with no resistance. At first I thought I was having a problem with the sizing die until I started measuring the bullets. I check them all the time now and haven't found anymore of the small ones. Next time out I'm going to load them a little hotter to see what happens. What the heck-for the price they're hard to beat for cheap shooting. Dave

FWIW guys I've launched them at over 4300fps and they all made it to the paper.
When they first came on the scene I thought the recommendation was to keep them under 4000fps. I could easily be mistaken.
There was some speculation on why the velocity limit was imposed so I pushed em hard to see if they turned to dust. First time I've heard of stability being the reason.

Anyhow heat em up if you wish. You'll never know unless you try.
