Varmit Grenade

So far so good. I loaded up some of the new Varmit Grenades and tried them out over the weekend.

First test they passed with flying colors that would be the accuracy test. I was a little worried about them since I had tried the .22 cal grenades last year with horrible results. Happy to say that the 204 grenades shot very well.

Second test was to see how fast they were scooting along. I was plesently surprised when I saw I was getting 4,220fps out of my 22" barreled CZ while I was only getting 3,950fps with factory loaded 32grn V-max. Zoom zoom :D

Now I just need something other than a water filled milk jug to shoot to see how the do.

My dad used some of the varmint grenades on a couple of texas jackrabbits, blew a tennis ball size hole coming out! worked pretty well!

I loaded them with benchmark 28.8grs, cci450 primers, remington brass if my memory is correct!

Did some testing with H-4198 today. Started out at 23 gr and worked up to 24.3 gr. I ended up with a sticky bolt in my VLP. The BTVSS had no problems with it. Primers and brass looked okay. Accuracy was pretty much the same all the way up. Two or three touching and one or two flyers which opened it up to about 3/4". Fairly hot and breezy today and was dealing with a fair bit of mirage which probably accounted for the flyers. When I came back in , I checked my E-mail and Ty Herring from Barnes had responded to yesterdays E-mail in regards to load data for the grenades. Not sure how to transfer the info onto here. It is an adobe file. Tried "copy and paste" but didn't work. Tried phot bucket and that didn't work either.
If someone knows how to place an adobe file on here, let me know.

HEY ALL
Im new 2 this site and i am after some helpfull info, as i live in melbourne Australia i am not familiar with the powders you use in the states, i was wanting to know if anyone had reloading data for the new 204 varmit grenades with ADI Powders, as i can not find any info.
I currently reload using a 40g V-MAX, 28g of AR2206H, Fed Gold Prim and hornady brass, this gives me good 5 shot groupings of 1/2 inc, but i still wana try the lil VG's

any info would be great THANKS

ADI's site should have a conversion table for their powders and Hodgdon's Extreme powders, which are made by ADI. 2206H= H4895, for example, Benchmark2 is Benchmark, 2219 is H-322, and so on. Those are the only ones I have memorized, the rest are on ADI's site, though.

X-Terminator 25.0 3773 27.5 4163 85
I just got some information from Western Powder who owns Ramshot and also Accurate Arms.
Thier "X-Terminator" is the same powder as AA2230. I emailed them asling for a 26 grain Varmint Grenade load using that powder because I have a bunch of it and it worked well for me in .223 loads and .204 with 39 and 40 grain bullets.

He sent me load data for "X-Terminator" powder showing a START load of 26.7 gr (4,050 fps)
and a MAX load of 29.7 gr (4,435 fps 59,350 PSI or CPU not sure which) OAL 2.250"

I loaded some up using 28 grains AA2230 with Winchester brass and WSR primers.
26 grain Varmint Grenades and my OAL was 2.245" Have not shot them yet and I do not have a chronograph but I will update with accuracy results. I am guessing they should go about 4,100 to 4,200 fps.

Just wanted everyone to know that according to Johan Loubser the Ballistician at Ramshot/Accurate Powders "X-Terminator and AA2230 are the same product." Those are his words.
