Nosler 2nds - .204 40gr

Has anyone used these 2nds? Any reports? Of course, as usual, I jumped on them first and am asking questions later - now that I have 500 on the way ($58 shipped), I'm curious.

In case anyone is interested, Nosler is now using a site called http://www.bivwak.com as an auction site for their bullets (since eBay doesn't allow them any more). I got these for $10/100.

At least I am one step closer to trying some reloads in my .204 NEF - I just picked up a L.E.Wilson trimmer set-up, to go with all of the brass, bullets, primers & powder that I have been accumulating over the last 2 years or so.

I've been shooting Nosler factory 2nds since 1975 for varmints and big game, not one failure of any kind ever, and since they brought out their 40gr 204 BT, I've shot it too, and not one rat has even known it's been launched by a "second".

Do be aware though, that some 12" twist 204's don't really care for 40 grain bullets, and I believe your NEF is a 12 twist barrel.......

Thanks for the info, fellas. I only sprung on the Nosler 40grs as I heard that there is a very good chance that they will do OK in the NEF, while the Hornady 40grs seem to have the most problems in the same rifles.

Of course, I already have thought about if they don't work, what will I do? The answer was easy: buy a Remington or Savage to keep the NEF company.

You may not always be right, but I like the way you think!

Actually, I am always Wright, never wrong... but may be incorrect. ;)

That comes with having the last name of Wright.

A couple of days ago I received an E-mail from Mike at Reloading seconds.com.
I had tried to order some in the spring, but some US rules had changed and bullets were not allowed to be shipped into Canada. Here is his reply. Good stuff for us Canadians. I plan on picking up a whole whack of nosler 32 and 40 gr'ers

Hi Gary,

I just wanted to give you an update on exporting bullets. If things work
out it looks like I will be shipping again. An export permit is
required, but it turns out that I can streamline the process and it
won't be too bad. The only thing I need from the importer is a purchase
order and export certificate (which is free). The good news is that an
export permit is valid for 4 years so I can ship what's on the PO in
multiple shipments over the life of the permit. That means once a permit
is obtained it's business as usual. It will just take a little planning
to project bullet needs because if it's not on the PO I can't ship it.
I'm working on a couple of test runs to work out the bugs so I know
exactly what is required. The folks at the State Department made it
sound fairly simple. Hopefully, it will all work out this time and I'll
be back in business. I'll keep you posted.

Mike
