I have used the 40 V-Max out to 375 yds. My friend has used the 39 Sierra out to 500 yds. and it expanded very well :D .
Strange thing, but I get more "backflips" and other spectacular stuff from p-dogs with the 40 at 3650 fps, than I do with a 32 gr. at 4000.
Mostly I have used the 32 gr. but when my 32's are gone I'm going back to the 40's for everything.

Dave,
I have been very happy with 39 Sierra's out to 500 yards. Used up something over a thousand so far and many more to come in the next few weeks. The Nosler and V-max bullets seem to be slightly more explosive, but my rifles like those Sierra's best and you've got to hit 'em first before worrying about acrobatics.
If they shoot well in your rifle load a bunch, I loaded 1500 over the winter so I'm convinced.
You won't go wrong.
