I see talk about some 2003 lots of the 10x being slow, dirty, etc. What is the word on this? I have used lots from 2004 and 2003. My latest purchase was a 5# jug from Aug 11 '03 Lot 35015. This matches.

Here's what I have to date:

1ea 1# Jun 26 '03 Lot 25118 Gone
3ea 3# Apr 22 '04 Lot 35015 Gone

1ea 5# Aug 11 '03 Lot 35015 Fresh

There was a huge discussion here maybe a year and a half ago about the slow lot. If you search you should be able to find it.

I experienced the exact same thing with a lot from 2003, that is, it was much slower burning. I have used seven different lots of 10X and that was the only one that was slow. I now buy two five pound jugs at a time.

The interesting thing I see reading your post, is the 35015 lot has both a 2003 and a 2004 date. One would have to assume then, that it was manufactured at the same time, but packaged at different dates.

As far as dirty goes, I shoot 200-300 rounds a day at pdogs, from two different rifles using this powder. I don't have a problem with excess powder fouling. Yeah, the bore is dirty, but after that many rounds, I reckon it ought to be. ;) All powder leaves black residue, that's just the way it is. It just depends on your definition of dirty I guess.
