New member here! Been lurking for a while, finally got the mods to let me in  Glad to finally be posting!

Just curious,

Is there a handload that is kind of universally accepted as a good starting point for duplicating the Hornady factory 40 GR load?

thanks!

Howdy duck, welcome to the forums!

We have a "Favorite Loads" topic in this very forum. I have a condensed version of that thread right here. The links take you to the post in the forum that pertains to that load.

Again welcome to the forums... Loads of helpful folks around here.

Hey what you shooting in 204 Ruger?

Note: Please verify all load data with a trusted source.

Thanks Glen for getting me hooked up!

Waldo, I am shooting a Remington 700 VLS w/Bushenll Elite 7-21 scope and a CZ 527 kevlar varmint with a Nikon Monarch 6.5-20.

The VLS is the most accurate gun I own. It's pure stock, with no trigger work done to it and nothing bedded or otherwise tweaked. It will shoot Hornady 40's in the 3's if I do my part. Trust me, I am no marksman so that REALLY speaks to the accuracy of the .204 and the rifle!

The CZ is new, I haven't even fired a shot down the tube. The previous owner shot I bought the rifle from (very reputable seller) shot about 40 rounds through it and told me the 40's grouped under an inch easily.

Thanks for the link I'll take a look at that post and go from there!

Here's the CZ:
